Winner Chick-lit Writing Contest 2009!
Ilse Spall gets the inspiration for her books partly from the three films she sees every week. As a true film freak, she has studied Film- and Theater Sciences and she has worked many years as a marketing assistant for a national cinema company. Nowadays she is a fulltime marketing coordinator for the Benelux and Nordic countries for an IT-multinational. Film, however, will always remain her passion, she even occasionally helps out in the local cinema where she once worked.
In addition to movie watching, writing fiction has been her hobby for many years. She basically started the day she learned to write at school. In the beginning she often borrowed characters from her favorite children's books and movies and wrote fan fiction. The stories grew steadily over the years, they turned bigger and bigger and eventually became books.
Ilse debuted after winning the Chick-lit Writing Contest in 2009 with Hollywood. In the summer of 2009 she entered the Chick-lit Writing Contest held by Chicklit.nl and publisher Sijthoff and Poema Pocket. From over sixty entries by the jury elected her manuscript Hollywood to be the winner. With her second book Blind date she has really established herself as one of the most popular Dutch Chick-lit writers.
Meanwhile, Ilse has three books: Hollywood, Blind date and recently also Villa Honeymoon. Hollywood recently has been translated and published in English. Ilse is years old, recently married and has just returned from her own honeymoon...
